Final Message to the school community 2021-2022

Final Message to the school community 2021-2022
Posted on 06/30/2022

We have reached the end of the 2021-2022 School year.  This year was a learning adventure, with many obstacles to navigate but as a school community I am very proud of our school staff, students and our families as we collectively supported each other this year.

I want to extend my appreciation to the entire school staff (teachers, educational assistants, care staff, office, admin and support staff) who made this year possible in making sure the best possible learning was occurring inside and outside the classroom.

A special congratulations to SRB’s graduating class of 2022!  We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

A few reminders as we end the school year and into next year:

Return of SRB School Materials (Chromebooks, Hotspots, Textbooks, Library Books, etc.)  - if you find anything at home, please return it to the school during the week of July 4-8.  We will have bins just inside the front entrance (please put names on any returned items).

Report Cards

  • Intermediate (Grade 7-8 Report cards) were e-mailed home on Wednesday June 29.

  • Secondary (Grade 9-12 Report cards) will be e-mailed home on Wednesday July 6

  • You need your child’s Ontario Education Number (xxx-xxx-xxx) found on previous report cards to access the report card when emailed.

  • NEW for this report period, report cards will be available to students to access. Students should check their OCDSB emails on July 6th.

Grade 12 Grads

Grads will receive a seperate communication with a private link of the Commencement slideshow, which can be shared with friends and family who were unable to join today's Commencement.  A reminder that your OCDSB account will no longer work after August 30.  Please forward any e-mails or Google Docs you wish to keep to another e-mail before this time.

Student Services

A reminder that students in grades 9-12 are required to complete 40 volunteer hours in order to graduate high school.  Students just finishing grade 8 this June can begin working on their community service hours this summer. For more information about volunteer opportunities and logging hours, please visit our SRB Guidance Website here.

Summer Closure

  • The school main office will be open for phone calls/e-mails.  The school grounds/indoors will be closed to the public during the summer because of interior and exterior construction projects (lighting upgrades and window upgrades).

  • If you require assistance please call the school between 8am-2pm as the office will be operating on summer hours.

  • The school will be closed for the OCDSB summer shutdown from July 25-August 12 and the main office will re-open on August 15.

Next School Year

  • The first day of school for all SRB students will be on Tuesday September 6.

  • The school will send a communication the week of August 29, prior to the school year beginning around school startup procedures.

    • For Incoming Grade 9 only: Our Link Crew Leaders will be in touch a couple days of school to talk about the first day of high school.  More information is here in the Link Letter to incoming grade 9 families.

    • Locker signup will be occurring digitally for students entering grade 10-12.  Watch for an email regarding locker signup in mid-late August.   Lockers for students in grade 7-8 are assigned in the first week of school, and lockers for grade 9’s will be assigned in link crew groups.

    • Students will not get their timetables until the first day of school.

  • We wish Mr. Grills well as he leaves SRB to serve as Principal of Colonel By SS next year - we will miss you and wish you all the best next year at your new school.   We welcome Karl Carey who is coming in to serve as VP beginning this fall.
