SWAU will provide high school students with positive opportunities to experience a university learning environment. This will create the possibility for students to explore a previously disregarded postsecondary opportunity and determine if university programming aligns with their pathway goals. The target audience is for Grade 11/12 students who are interested in university, but may not see themselves pursuing this pathway due to a variety of reasons such as Multi-Language Learners, Indigenous, identified learning need, racialized or historically underserved.
Students will be taking a Dual Credit university course at Carleton University. Please click here for the dual credit course syllabus. Upon successful completion of the university course, students will earn this university credit as well as a high school credit (depending upon each student’s pathway).
Students will have a variety of options to determine their pathway for completion of their OSSD in conjunction with the SWAU. In addition to attending their Dual Credit course weekly on Tuesdays.
Students will have the option to:
- remain at their designated school; or,
- attend Ottawa-Carleton Virtual Secondary School. Program and Learning Innovation staff will be hosting a virtual information session for students and parents/guardians on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm using the following link: https://meet.google.com/hho-czze-vjx
