Health and Safety
We are actively monitoring student safety each day. As we work through subject-classroom specific issues, we bring these matters forward to the district. A number of measures that are in place:
Evening deep clean - Wipe down of high contact surfaces and touch points in the hallways, doorknobs, stairwells, entrances and exits, desk surfac
Washrooms cleaned 2x daily with additional disinfectant.
Physical distancing signage, washroom sign in/sign out tracking, directional signage, zoning of cohorts by class/grade.
School entrance and classroom hand sanitizer, and spray bottles of Virex II 256 as a disinfectant.
Ottawa Public Health nurse visit to review safety protocols/practices.
All students and staff wear masks while on OCDSB property and mandatory in the building. When students are outside, if physical distancing is at minimum of 2 metres, they may remove their mask however we are encouraging students to wear masks at all times outside.
If a student becomes ill while at school, staff will bring the student to our Wellness Centre and arrange for your child to be picked up. Per OPH guidelines, any students in the same household would also be asked to go home.
Parents and staff are required to complete student self-assessment of COVID-19 symptoms daily before coming to school/work.
If your child is ill and they are staying at home, please contact srbattendance@ocdsb.ca - students may return to school when they are symptom free after a minimum of 24 hours. Teachers are using a learning management system (Google Classroom/Brightspace) so students know what work is being done in class.
Parents and visitors are not allowed at the school at this time due to safety reasons. Should you require assistance, please phone 613-829-5320 or e-mail the school.
At this time, parents cannot drop items to students during the day - please send your child to school with a water bottle, lunch/snacks, school materials.
Individual subject based guidelines are being developed in collaboration with school and board staff to meet health and safety requirements (e.g. reduced number of students to perform a lab, sanitize equipment before/after use)
Student Access to Technology
In order to support technology needs across our entire school community, we are asking if your child has access to their own device for learning to please bring it to school with them. This will allow us to use our limited technology resources for students that do not otherwise have access to a personalized device (e.g. Chromebook/Laptop). We are doing this for safety reasons to minimize sharing of devices. Procurement of cleaning supplies specific to technology is being ordered. At this time we are not sharing devices until we have these supplies.
Annual Form Requirements - ACTION FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS
Each year, parents/guardians are asked to complete permission forms related to acceptable use of technology, media/website permission, science lab safety, and forms for life threatening medical conditions(optional). Recently these forms have all become electronic. Parents are asked to click on each one of these links (except for medical) and fill them out for each child at our school.
