Principal's Message

Hello to SRB students and their families;

The school year is off to a great start; while this year looks different compared to previous years, our staff is committed to providing the best learning experience for students.  Our number one priority is safety, learning and engagement for students. While I am new to the SRB community this year, I am inspired by our students and staff whose positivity and dedication helps in making SRB a safe, inclusive and caring community.

This year, our return to school plan includes cohorting of students, adapted school schedules, enhanced cleaning measures, physical distancing, sign-in/out procedures, mandatory masks, as part of our commitment to safety. We are proud of our students for being excellent citizens as it takes a community to overcome additional challenges that we face in our daily lives. We are committed to working together - students, staff and parents/guardians, in keeping our school the best it can be. We are also actively working on improving virtual learning practices as part of our school learning plan.

At any point in the school year please connect with your child’s teacher to discuss progress of your child. There will also be key reporting dates which will be communicated through the School Messenger system. If you are not receiving information from the school via phone/email on a semi-regular basis please contact the main office at 613-829-5320  so that we can update your contact information.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind you about the Opportunity Shop, a student support initiative. It is the goal of the Opp Shop to offer both gently used clothing as well as new hygiene products, (including deodorant, tooth brushes, tooth paste, soaps etc), free of charge to students in need. If your child would benefit from this initiative then you or your child should contact the school guidance department or school administration. Confidentiality is ensured.

SRB also offers pre-packaged grab and go snacks for students in need. Please drop by Room 211 for High School students or connect with the homeroom teacher for Intermediate students to pick up a snack to eat on the way to class. Having a healthy snack in the morning has been proven to enhance learning!

We believe in a strong bond between home and school. We know that when parents are involved in school, their children do better in school. The Council is an effective voice of parents/guardians and it has been a strong advocate for good things at SRB. Please look at the School council section of the website for additional details.

Thank you to all students and their families for their continued support at SRB.

Kind regards,

Matt Gagnier

Proud Principal @ SRB
